The advantage of the Feingold Program is that we help the family "start where the child is AT" which means that the child is more likely to cooperate.   Without the child's cooperation in any special diet, you have lost it all.   Because we are able to eliminate the synthetic additives WITHOUT eliminating all the sugar, the children do not feel deprived. Sweets can be slowly reduced over time, but not at the beginning. (We do recommend, however, avoiding corn syrup either right from the beginning or if the child continues to have problems on the basic diet.)
